Move over Jared Leto, there is a new Joker in town. Warner Bros has confirmed that a standalone Joker movie has been announced and will hit the big screens October 4th, 2019. The film, titled “Joker” will star Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime and will have a relatively low $55 million budget in comparison to other comic/superhero movies. Additionally, the viewer won’t have the more traditional large-scale action sequences but instead, it is an origin story of how the Joker became Batman’s nemesis.
Warner Bros says the film will be an “exploration of a man disregarded by society” and added that it “is not only a gritty character study, but a broader cautionary tale.”
